This is a brief explanation of a system of magic that I've come up with for a new character I'm working on. It consists of three schools: creative, manipulative, and corruptive.
Creative magics govern over the production of what wasn't there before, which can range anywhere from healing wounds, to conjuring fire, to summoning a weapon from thin air.
Manipulative magics govern the control of what you have to work with, which can range anywhere from levitation, to illusions, to managing the complexities of some of the higher grade magics from the other schools. In addition, summoning magics, such as those used by most sorcerers to call forth demons along the lines of imps, or djinni, falls within this school, for it requires an existing being whose position can be modified.
Corruptive magics govern the destruction and (generally malign) alteration of anything from the material aspect to the essence of the caster's target.
