"You need to go to a hospital!" Julia said after a moment of indecision. She truely hated hospitals, and hated knowing that she needed to go to one. She looked around helplessly, as if a sign directing her to the hospital would just pop out of the ground. Along with a vehicle. She was slight, and didn't have the musclemass required to carry Deried.

"Can't go there," Deried said with a shake of his head before coughing a bit more. Hospitals meant humans which meant blood which meant bad things in general.
Rincha ran in through the doors from the boys dorm, though how she ended up there was a mystery. She was holding a thermos filled with a warm concoction that smelled like strong herbs. Standing in front of Deried, she twisted the lid off the thermos and held it out to Deried "Drink this"
Deried could smell the horrid herbs in the thermos, but somehow there was still an appetizing scent about it, which was odd. After coughing once more, Deried grabbed the thermos out of Rincha's hand and drank. It was delicious. He chugged down the entire content of the tall thermos, feeling the warmth of it course through his body, healing and strengthening him. When he removed the empty thermos from his lips, he didn't look unhealthily pale anymore, and his cough had gone away. This Rincha character had saved him. How strange. His theory felt like a mental tug-a-war; yes, no, yes, no.

Julia was about to scream a protest, sure that Rincha was giving Deried some horrible poison that was sure to kill him and make it look like an accident. And, of course, the Headmistress would accept Rincha's version of the story without question and Julia would look like a raving idiot whose only friend was just killed. But she didn't have time for that. "No!" she managed to gasp before Deried was chugging the concoction. Julia cringed, but the expected thump of a body hitting the floor didn't occur. Risking a peek, Julia opened her eyes, which she had squezzed shut. Deried was still drinking. He lowered the cup, and to Julia's surprise, he looked much better. "Are you... ok?" she asked hesitantly, still expecting him to drop dead.

OOC: *giggle* No, silly, she already killed him once.
Rincha took in a deep breath, shutting her eyes and leaning against the wall. That was too much work for such a person. But this person was worth it, she reminded herself. Tried to convince herself. God. And that Julia girl thought that Rincha wished death upon all the other students. How sad.
Deried looked at Julia and smiled reassuringly, "Yeah, I'm fine now." Although why was certainly a mystery to him. He glanced at Rincha, questions in his eyes. Why save him? And how? "What was in that drink?" he asked, incredibly curious as to why it had cured his cough so well in such a short amount of time. Rincha opened her eyes, questions in her eyes, too, although there shouldn't have been. "Just a few herbs," she said aloud as a little voice said in his head "Just a bit of blood"

ooc- well, yes, but she doesn't know that
Julia looked distrustingly at Rincha. Something about her still didn't seem right. She doubted that what she had gave Deried was just a couple of herbs, but she couldn't begin to guess what else could have been in there. "Well, that's great." she said cheerily instead.

OOC: Yeah, only she knows that.
Deried frowned at Rincha. How did she know, so quickly...? Was it so obvious? But no, he hadn't done anything at all to tip her off, or at least he couldn't...wait. When he first saw her in the courtyard...had that been a trap? Was she trying to trap him or save him? What a confusing person.
Rincha sighed, looking up at the clear blue sky. She had failed her first mission, that was for sure. Gain another's trust. But she'd ending up losing the trust of these two, and now they were looking at her like they were trying to see what was underneath, what was her true motive? As for that, it may become clear in time. That is, if things go according to plan. Which they seldom do, seeing as Rincha isn't the one planning any of this.

"I'm going to go to the cafeteria and eat something spicy," Franz told Dethran, popping some almonds into his mouth and walking away. "Alright, I'll go with you, I'm getting a bit hungry," Dethran replied, going with Franz.

Julia turned towards Deried, about to ask if she could walk him to his room, and instead saw him frowning at Run. That was wierd, shouldn't he be greatful? Or maybe curious, like she was? Not this incredulity, this questioning that had to do with something else, other then the contents of the drink that Run had given him. Julia stuttered comepletly thrown off her track, then finally spat out the question. "Do you want me to go with you to your room?" she asked, getting the point across as quickly as possible, instead of eloquently like she had planned.

Rincha sighed, turning away from the two and waving as she said, "See you two later before walking away, in the direction of the girl's dorm.
Deried turned to face Julia, refocusing on one of the things here he was more sure of. He smiled easily, a warm smile that was the complete opoosite of those fake ones Rincha seems to love giving people. "That would be nice of you," he said, seeming glad of her company and apparent worry for his well-being. But mostly glad to be with her. This was nice. A new friend. One with a lower possibility of dying, perhaps? Hopefully.

ooc- lower possibility of dying? He obviously doesn't know that she's suicidal... can you say plot twist?
Julia smiled with the slightly awkward smile of one who wasn't used to be liked, or even barely tolerated. In a way, Deried was like her first real friend. One that wouldn't betray her and kill the only people who had looked out for her. "Ok, so where's you're dorm?" she asked, turning towards the school enterance, but turning her head in order to keep looking at Deried.

Deried smiled at her and gently grabbed her arm, turning her in the direction of the boy's dorm before releasing her and beginning to walk with her towards his dorm. He seemed pretty content to walk with Julia in silence, a smile on his face

Julia walked along with Deried, but her thoughts were far from the happy ones that brought a smile to his face. Bitter thougths swirled in her mind, reflecting on the past and plotting the future, always turning around in circles, never reaching a definitive conclusion. Self-hate made a sudden appearance as she screamed at herself inside her head for being so useless. A small sob escaped her, wanting despratly to be a sigh, and Julia reflexivly turned her head, hiding the twisted expresion of pain on her face.

Deried didn't miss Julia's sob/sigh, pausing for a moment and asking, "Are you alright?" he seemed genuinely worried about her.

"Yes." Julia whispered, but letting out that small about of air had killed her attempt to keep her tears in. "No." she said, tears leaking down her cheeks as she turned back towards Deried. "I'm sorry, I... didn't mean... to cry," she said, her voice breaking several times. She was still trying to hold in her pain. No one deserved to see this. Especially not her new friend. The tears started to escilate as she thought about Deried. The one friend that wasn't dead yet.

"What's wrong?" Deried asked, looking concerned. Why would Julia just start crying? Especially when he had been so happy, how had she become so sad?

Julia felt terrible. Not only was she bawling all over the floor, but she had completly ruined Deried's moment. "I'm... ok," she managed to gasp through sobs, even though she clearly wasn't. She took a moment to try and quiet her breathing, to calm her system down. Tricks, she has learned in the past few months to combat the sudden waves of dispair. She backed up to a wall and sat down, trying to steady herself, to take support from it's unyielding strength. The tears were coming back under control, so she chanced a look up at Deried. He was concerned and confused, looking back at her. Of course he was. "I'm sorry," she said immediatly, looking ashamed. She had thought that these emotions were under control by now. Obviously, she had some work to do. "It's just..." she had to take another steadying breath, but the sobs were back and she realized that she couldn't talk around the lump in her throat. She looked away from Deired again, working to try and supress them again.

Deried decided not to pry, and looked away from Julia's misery, remembering all the secrets he kept from others, and how he could never tell a soul, not even in his worst hour, or his life would end once more.

"I wish I was miserable. Then I wouldn't have to feel so bad for being happy." Julia said angrily, the sudden venom in her voice overwhelming. Her eyes were still threatening tears, but her expression was of built up anger, reaching a breaking point and overflowing with a vengence.

"But don't all people have the right to be happy?" Deried said in a thoughtful tone, turning back to face her once more "So why be miserable?" It was truly his outlook on life, the words he spoke. He didn't let anything make him miserable, not the death of loved ones or himself, nothing. Although he supposed that this attitude of his lead to other less than healthy things. Like Run.

Julia smiled, but there was a heavy bitter undertone. "Sure, everyone should have a chance to be happy. Everyone who is alive. And I shouldn't be alive." she said, looking at the ground again to hide her faltering smile. Why did she have the right to be alive, why should she get to be here, when everyone she knew, everyone who had cared for her, had died? What justice was this?

Deried laughed; it was a dark sound "You and I both." It was interesting that he and Julia had this peculiar fact in common. Although he wondered how she was supposed to die. Wondered if it had been as horrid as his had been. As health-threatening in later years.

Julia looked up, curiousity and a sort of half-hopeful warmth welling within her, overwhelming the dispair that was fading anyway. Maybe Deried's experinced mirrored her own. My she found someone who could not only sympathize with her, but maybe empathize. The possibility was dizzying. "I should be dead." she repeated. "I was shot. By someone I thought I could trust. But he knew. He knew..." the next words were cut off. She wanted to trust Dereid, she really did. In fact, she already did, otherwise she wouldn't be telling him this. But she still wasn't ready for that. To admit to him, whom she'd known only for a few short hours, all of the gory details. Not yet. Maybe, in time, but now was most definatly not the time. "He knew, so he couldn't kill me. He thought he did. Killed me, just like everyone else who trusted him. But he couldn't." She finished her confusing a broken-up story looking at the floor, unable to face Deried's reactions and keep going. Maybe one day, he could know the rest. Julia hoped so.

Deried smiled a slightly bitter smile, "That sounds of a more emotional pain than a physical pain. I still haven't quite discovered which is worse." He paused for a moment, choosing his words wisely. She obviously had left out some facts, which he intended to do as well. He refused to assume anything about Julia from the bits and pieces she had given him, though. Deried had never been one for assuming things. Just slowly piecing together a mystery with facts and the truth hidden in myths. "I suppose you could call me foolish," he finally began, his brown eyes distant as he remembered, "Chasing after a phantom, much less a dangerous phantom that had been the cause of death for all of my loved ones. I supposed it would be safe to fight fire with fire. After all, at that point I had nothing to lose, and her fire had already consumed." he smiled bitterly "But nothing is safe when playing with fire, and my lung was pierced through. My prize escaped, leaving me gasping for breath on the ground. It's a horrible feeling, not being able to breathe, even though your lungs are still trying to give you oxygen. Trying and failing." He was quiet for a moment, as though thinking, but in reality, he had become lost in his story, his thoughts, and his "phantom" was once again on his mind. He started pondering if he had indeed found her or if this was merely a coincidence. A poorly-formed coincidence, not close enough to be true. But just the one similarity with his phantom girl led him to hope, to believe that she was here, nearby, finally within his reach. And if he was lucky, she wouldn't try to kill him again.

Julia held her breath for what seemed like an immesurably long amount of time. Would he accept her trust? Then Deried smiled, and Julia relaxed. It seemed she was accepted. They sat in silence for a moment, and Julia became aware of a conflict going on in her friend. Again she held her breath, afraid that even to soft sound of breathing breaking the silence would through the blance out of proportion. Then, he began to speak. Not only did Deried accept her, but he was also prepared to trust her. A small smile broke through, unnoticed by Deried, and completly out of context of Deried's story. Phantoms, revenge. In a way, Deried's story was much like hers was now, consumed as she was with killing the person that betrayed them all. Julia was reeling a little at the frightening similarities between thier stories, so she didn't say anything for a moment after Deried finished. When she looked up at him again, she noticed that he was lost in thought too. She gave another small smile, but this one seemed more distant. "We have more in common then we thought, I see." she observed.

Deried looked back at Julia, pulling himself out of his ponderings at her words. One of the rules of this school echoed through his head. Never trust anyone for no reason. Find a reason to trust or distrust them. But wasn't this reason enough? The two of them had this somewhat in common, which was the core of Deried's existence. "Yes," he answered to her and himself. He'd take this leap and trust her.
